Well, hmmm... another month and no post from me? If you are one of the two people who subscribe to me via bloglines you might get an update and ask yourself "wonder what she's been so busy doing that she can't update her blog on a regular basis?"
Well, to be honest, I'm wondering where all of this blogging is getting me and whether it is doing any good. And for the most part, I just haven't had the time. What with two blogs and two wikis at work, I find my 2.0 skills being spread out for more folks to love.
So, let's see...I'm settling into my job reasonably well. I'm shaking things up but not too much. I'm teaching students - real students- still not sure if that's a good thing. They stare at me balnkly so it's almost the same as teaching them via computer.
Other things? Well, my friend Mandie and her daughter are coming to visit in a few days. I"m very excited about that. My mom comes for an American Dietetics Assoc. meeting next week. I'm still trying to arrange for my librarian posse from Alabama to come to Chicago but the flights and schedules haven't been syncing up the way I had wanted. Dang it!
Martin and I did traverse a mighty fine corn maze this weekend. Again, we were the only folks without children in tow. Children names Evan, Devon and Kevin and Caitlin were in full force though. We had delicious roasted corn, kettle corn and petted some overfed friendly goats. I don't really mind being the only folks without children...in fact, I have been able to create sort of a myth at work that I don't like children at all. I'll tell you what I don't like is people constantly talking about poop. I put the acceptable time on poop talk about at 1 year. So, if I have known you for at least one year and we have enjoyed lunch together more than on one occasion you are allowed to talk about body stuff. One year is all I'm asking, but I'm not getting it.
We also had a very nice Rosh Hashanah and we had a delish meal at the Bonefish Grill to break our fast on Yom Kippur and to celebrate our anniversary -two in one!
We've also been invited to a Halloween party where costumes are required. I told Martin that if he wants to go he can put on a trucker hat and be Ashton Kutcher. Martin is not really the costume type - if you know him you will agree.
I also found my long lost childhood best friend via Facebook. In a comment that will no doubt strike most as incredibly sad, she is the only person in my entire life that I have ever called best friend. Wipe your tears now.
